Transparent Dog Umbrella for Pets and Accessories
Transparent Dog Umbrella for Pets and Accessories
The materials look sturdy, and I really like the design. It’s transparent with black trim and feels solidly built. The handle measures 24 1/2" including the tube, and it’s comfortable to hold, although a foam or cushioned grip that doesn’t absorb water would have made it even better. The leash section has a good length (12 1/8") and can be adjusted up to 20 1/4". The size of the umbrella works very well for me — fully opened, it measures 27 1/2" at the narrowest point and 29 3/8" at the widest. I tested it with my two small dogs (10 lb and 20 lb), and it provides very good coverage for both. The umbrella opens with a strong snap, which startles them a bit, but I think they just need time to get used to it, and I need to practice opening it more smoothly. In my opinion, it opens with force because it locks firmly into place, which helps prevent it from bending in light wind. I haven’t tested it in moderate or strong winds or heavy rain, since we don’t go out in those conditions.Overall, it feels solid, the parts don’t wobble, the plastic folds neatly, and the ribs and shaft stay firm and well aligned. It feels heavier than a regular leash but lighter than a metal leash. The structure is firm, so it feels like a slightly rigid leash with an integrated umbrella. It’s easy to walk with it because the tension between my hand and the dog keeps the umbrella stable. Since the adjustable strap attaches directly to the collar or harness, you don’t need an extra leash. It stays steady while walking and is easy to control. If you plan to walk more than one dog using a separate umbrella for each, I wouldn’t recommend handling more than two at the same time. You would need one umbrella in each hand, and the handles are not easy to hold together in one hand. Also, because the umbrella has a wide range of movement, two umbrellas can get in each other’s way if the dogs walk too close to each other. I also wouldn’t recommend using one umbrella for more than one dog, even if they are small, because it wouldn’t cover them properly from the rain.I do think it’s functional. When I took them out in the rain, it kept them very well covered, and the transparent design makes it easy to see them while walking, which I really like. They walked comfortably under it, and it didn’t get in their way, although they’re still a little scared because they’re not used to it yet. Another thing I appreciate is that once they get used to it, they’ll likely be able to go potty more comfortably. They don’t like wearing raincoats — they feel restricted, and the sound of the rain hitting the fabric and getting their heads wet bothers them, so they don’t want to do their business. I’m going to keep getting them used to this umbrella because I think once they lose the fear, they’ll be comfortable, and the rain won’t bother them anymore.
This umbrella is a great way to keep your small dog dry in the rain. However, it did not work well for my dog. He’s about 13 lbs and he did fit perfectly under the umbrella with room to spare. But, he doesn’t walk well on a leash as I’ve only had him for about a month. He pulls and tries to run away from the umbrella. He also is used to a 6’ leash and this is much shorter. It’s also difficult to bend and pick up the poop without him getting wet so a bit of a learning curve. If you have a small, chill dog that walks well on a leash, this umbrella is for you. It is well made, sturdy and easy to operate. It is lightweight, and definitely will reduce drying time and the smell of wet dog which makes it a good value. Folds nicely and fits into a small place or umbrella stand. I also like that it is clear so you can see what your dog is up to easily and he can see well too.Earns 4 stars because although it didn’t work for me, I see the potential for more mellow pups and those used to walking on a shorter leash. Also great for dogs that hate going out in the rain. Time will tell if my dog can adapt to the umbrella. I also wish the clasp at the end of the leash was a bit larger. My dog’s jacket with 2 built in D rings as well as his harness were barely able to fit. Would work well with a single ring perhaps like one on a regular collar.
Our dog hates the rain, and where we live is notorious for heavy rains, so it is always stressful to deal with the dog’s bathroom activities when it rains here. He’ll often run outside, pee very quickly, and then run back inside of the house without pooping because he doesn’t like getting rained on. With this umbrella, he was actually very happy to walk around and take care of business, and it was me instead who insisted on getting back inside more quickly this time around. He seemed to not mind the umbrella at all while we were using it.That said, the leash is really quite short, which makes it pretty awkward to try to clip it on to his harness. Because of the shape and size of the umbrella, I felt like I was awkwardly pushing the umbrella down onto him in order to get close enough to be able to clip the leash on. The clip is also really small and difficult to operate with one hand, which exacerbated the problem because you already have to hold the umbrella with your other hand and deal with the short leash. It felt like a bit of gymnastics to go through the process of trying to clip the leash onto him given the short leash and the small clip, and I felt like I had to awkwardly hover directly over him while walking around since there’s so little distance between the end of the leash and the umbrella. Overall, this is really handy when its rainy heavy, and it’s a better product than some older dog umbrellas we’ve tried, but it could really use a longer leash and a better clip to make it a much more easy to use product.
Dogs are adorable, but less so when they are wet and dirty. This pet umbrella is such a fun and novel find! Innovative design with a built in leash and provides a clear plastic canopy to help protect a small dog from rain and other elements. It’s both practical and super cute.As you might expect, it can feel a little awkward at times—especially if your dog likes to pull in different directions—so there’s a bit of a learning curve. But once you get used to it, it works well. The umbrella itself feels sturdy and well constructed, and honestly, it’s such a clever invention I hadn’t seen before. It also gets a ton of attention and compliments whenever we’re out. Overall, a unique and useful product that’s worth trying!
If you’ve ever tried to convince a small dog that a quick walk in the rain isn’t a form of torture, you’ll understand why I ended up with the Namsan Pet Umbrella. It’s one of those "is this too much?" purchases that actually ends up being incredibly practical.I didn't take any photos of this in action outside because, let’s be honest, trying to juggle a leash, an umbrella, and a wiggly pup in a downpour doesn’t exactly make for a professional photoshoot. But here is the lowdown on how it actually holds up.The Build and AssemblyThe umbrella comes as a self-assembly kit. It’s pretty straightforward, though you’ll want to make sure everything is clicked into place securely before you head out. It features:• Clear PVC Canopy: This is the best part. You can see exactly what your dog is doing, and more importantly, they can see you, which helps them stay calm.• Built-in Leash: There is an adjustable leash hook inside the umbrella that attaches directly to their collar or harness.• Adjustable Handle: You can tilt and adjust the angle of the handle so you aren't walking at a weird hunch. Why It Works for UsThe biggest win is the coverage. For dogs that absolutely loathe getting their ears or backs wet, this creates a little portable dry zone. Unlike a raincoat, which still leaves their head exposed and ends with a soggy mess to peel off later, this keeps the majority of the water off them entirely.A Few Realistic Notes• Size Matters: This is strictly for small dogs. If you have a larger breed, they simply won't fit under the canopy. It’s perfect for Chihuahuas, Yorkies, or smaller Terriers.• The Learning Curve: Your dog might look at you like you’ve lost your mind the first time you put this over them. It takes a few minutes of "indoor practice" with treats to get them used to the clear dome hovering above them.• Wind Factor: Like any umbrella, it can be a bit of a sail if it’s really windy out, so keep a firm grip.Final VerdictIf you’re tired of the "wet dog" smell taking over your house every time it drizzles, the Namsan Pet Umbrella is a solid, affordable fix. It’s a bit of a conversation starter on the sidewalk, but having a dry, happy dog at the end of the walk is worth the extra looks.
